Amanda D. Lake

July 27, 1992 - April 5, 2020

Amanda D. Lake, age 27, of Mankato, died suddenly in her sleep, on Sunday, April 5, 2020.  Amanda was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 27, 1992 to Daniel A.. and Doreen K. (Hanson) Lake.  She grew up in New Prague and graduated from New Prague High School.).  As she was in everything she did, Amanda was a joyful worker at Mankato Rehabilitation Center, Inc. (MRCI).  She had an infectious zest for life; she exuded happiness and made friends wherever she went.  She was an avid sports fan and loved all Minnesota teams, the Twins, Vikings, and the Wild.  Amanda did everything with the fullness of her spirit.  Her favorite TV shows were Cops and Dog, the Bounty Hunter; in fact, dog became her Halloween costume every Halloween.   She loved Duane Johnson (The Rock), country music (Garth Brooks was her favorite), and riding in the semi with Kevin so she could visit with the CBers on the road.  There was nothing more important than time with her family, her many, many friends and going out to eat and enjoying a Captain Coke.  She will be sorely missed by so many.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Doreen Lake (fiancé, Kevin Robertson) of Owatonna, Daniel & Peggy Lake of Cannon Falls; sister, Kristine (James) Callahan of Arlington; step-sisters, Kyla (Blake) Goodwin, Erica (Jack) Aronson, Megan (Ryan) Endres; grandmother, Margaret Hanson of New Prague; grandparents, Ed & Elaine Lake of Hill City, MN; many nieces and nephews, including Claire and Natalie Callahan and Breck Goodwin.  She is preceded in death by grandmother, Faye Lake; grandfather, Derald Hanson.

Private family services will be held with burial at Solor Lutheran Cemetery in Webster, MN.   A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.

This News saddens my heart, I can hear her giggle and see her arms moving excitedly as she spoke. I will always treasure knowing Amanda while she attended NPAS. To her family I hope you are showered with wonderful memories in the days to come as you navigate a world without your treasured daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend. When I think of Amanda I think of a memory she was in 4/5 grade: we were trying to get teaching staff to stop hugging and visiting Amanda as she walked to class. She was so sweet, chatted with and hugged everyone!… Read more »

Dear Danny and family: I was so sorry to hear of Amanda’s sudden passing. I have fun memories of the ‘little stinker’ in her younger years when she would call her Great Uncle Bob on the phone multiple times a day to ask him to take her ice fishing! And when you would bring her over, she would go straight to the fridge, open the door and ask “Do you have anything to eat?” What a treasure she was! Amanda was always so happy…..never a care in the world. She is now in Heaven with her Grandma Faye, Great Uncle… Read more »
