Terry Fahey

July 12, 1948 - August 6, 2025
Terrance J. “Terry” Fahey, age 77, of New Prague, died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Terry was born on July 12, 1948, in New Prague, to Joseph and Blanche (Coghill) Fahey. He grew up in the Belle Plaine area, graduating from Belle Plaine High School. He joined the US Army Reserves and one magical night, met the woman to whom he would remain forever dedicated to at a wedding dance at the Waconia Ballroom. He married Mary H. Pint on October 4, 1969, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill.
Terry began his career as an ironworker, completing his apprenticeship with Local 512 to become a proud journeyman. He later followed in his father’s footsteps, joining the family business, Fahey Sales Agency, as an auctioneer and realtor. During this time, he also worked at a car auction in Shakopee and taught for many years as an instructor in Mason City. Terry eventually started a successful consignment lot at his home, which grew to be one of the largest in the Midwest, attracting buyers from across the country and even internationally. In addition to his auctioneering, he was also passionate about his work in real estate sales and appraisals.
Terry was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
His natural congeniality and love of people made him a natural in his business. He had a quick wit, with a ready come-back and was lovingly known as a jokester! He always expressed his opinion and “said it like it is” and never sugar-coated. Naturally gregarious, he also had a quiet side and was a practiced listener when the need arose. His wife and family were his top priority and he raised his children with a gentle but firm hand, allowing them to learn from their mistakes. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing (especially river fishing) and hunting, with hunting trips that took him to Minnesota, Wyoming, and Montana. An occasional trip to the casino with a good game of Black Jack might have been responsible for the very frequent trips to Las Vegas! Traveling with Mary was perhaps Terry’s favorite activity and often just got in the car with the plan to just see “where the car would take them”. They made it a goal to travel to all 50 states and just recently fulfilled that piece of his bucket list.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Terry (Jodi) Fahey, Jr. of New Prague, Amy (Steve) Glisczinski of Belle Plaine, Katie (Mike ) Pexa of New Prague, Becky (Jesse) Wilson of New Prague; daughter-in-law, Jenny Fahey of New Prague; grandchildren, Larissa (Brandon) Anderson, Leigha (Madison) Forshee, Morgan (Jared) Schloesser, Patrick (Emily) Fahey, Tate & William Fahey, Adam & Andy Glisczinski, Amber (Joe) Ruehling, Kami Pexa (fiancé, Jose Suarez Martinez), Leo Pexa, Kylie & Kaycee Wilson; great-grandchildren, Miley, Nash, Carver, Spencer, Oakley, Wyatt, Dutton & Molly; siblings, Sharon Brown of Waconia, Joe (Linda) Fahey of Belle Plaine, Marilyn (Jim) Witt of Belle Plaine, Tim (Rita) Fahey of Norwood Young America, Janel (Ned) Garber of Shakopee, Jim (Linda) Fahey of Hutchinson. My sympthany to family and friends of Terry. Very special person Terry was.
⸻ To the Fahey family, Thank you, Terry, for taking my mom under your wing in real estate all those years ago — 33 years ago. She’s always said you were the greatest blessing a single mother of five could have ever hoped for. Truly her guardian angel. We hold so many memories close — especially working the Fahey Auction’s and playing 6-5-4 during the week. Those were such special times. Getting to know your family — the hard work, and all the love — was incredible. Thanks for all your jokes, the good times, and all the Busch Light.… Read more »
