Shivaun Allan

July 19, 1959- December 13, 2024

Shivaun Marie (Burns) Allan, mother, grandmother and friend, returned to her Lord on Dec.13, 2024. She died from ovarian cancer at age 65.

Shivaun was born July 19, 1959, to Eileen (Wolff) Burns and Edward Burns and grew up in New Prague, MN, where she graduated high school in 1977. In 1981, she earned a bachelor's degree in human services at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.

She lived in Mound, MN, for many years while she raised her three children. Later in life, she moved to Arizona to pursue a master's degree in education from Northern Arizona University. She taught special education with a big heart and a special ability to connect with the kids. When she moved back to Minnesota, she was grateful to be closer to her grandchildren, who were the most important people in her life. Her "Grandma Tree" was decorated with the kids' pictures, and any art they made was displayed in its branches.

Shivaun strove to be giving and kind whenever she could. She tried to keep a positive attitude, even in the toughest of times, and always reminded her children to "fake it ’til you make it."

Shivaun was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, and she is survived by brother Tom Burns-Aitkin, MN; children Megan (Justin) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; Katy (Tristan) Michaud of Sioux Falls; Sean (Christina) Koehn of Belle Plaine, MN; and nephew Kevin (Cassie) Burns-Aitkin, MN. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Max, Quinn, David, Edward and Josephine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will be held at church for 1 hour prior to Mass, starting at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

Where a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of endless beautiful memories… Your love, laughter, and spirit will be missed by all who came to know you. May your spirit reside within our lives, fluttering about on Angel’s wings, and within the beauty of a butterfly on a summer day, until we meet again…

Wherever you are, here’s hoping it’s full of the kind of joy that came from apples and burnt nachos <3

You took me under your wing to work on the NPHS paper and or year book. You also gave me rides home when needed. It was nice visiting with you and Ruth G. I thought of you last week and wondered how you were doing. I called Ruth to catch up on you. Soar with the Angels, and sing in the choir in heaven. Celebrating Christmas in heaven with our Savior has to be extra special! R I P my dear.

I have so many fond memories of Shivaun. We grew up together as neighbors, playing together as often as our parents would let us. I had 6 sisters but she was my 7th sister. We remained friends throughout all those years. Rest in peace my friend. Prayers for all her family.

Shivaun, my friend since first grade !! So many good stories and memories over the years. You fought the good fight the last two years of your cancer diagnosis; now, finally free from earthly concerns, and you’re flying high with the angels. Until we meet again at heaven’s gate, where I hope you’ll vouch for me to get in, I will carry your memory in my heart. ❤️ Our sympathy to Megan, Katy, Sean and families and to her brother Tom and family.

Shivaun, was my brother, Caleb‘s, neighbor for the last few years. She treated him like he was one of her own children. She would bring gifts by for him and his kids when they had a birthday or for Christmas or Easter. I got to meet her when I came to Minnesota to visit. What a beautiful woman! There is definitely going to be a void in the lives of those who she loved.
