Scott Rhein

April 16, 1961 - February 23, 2023

Scott A. Rhein, age 61, of New Market, died peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Rochester Mayo Clinic Health System after a brief battle with lung cancer. Scott was born on April 16, 1961 in St. Paul to George T. and Gretchen (Simon) Rhein. He graduated from Burnsville High School in 1979 and married Lisa Marie Degn on September 26, 1981 at Mary Mother of the Church in Burnsville. Scott was a building materials salesman and served as a huge influence for many in the lumber industry.

Scott’s faith was of utmost importance to him. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout Leader, and a religious education teacher. Scott loved the outdoors, especially walleye fishing and deer hunting, but embraced winter with snowmobiling and driving 4-wheelers. He enjoyed a good game of cards, particularly Euchre and Pfeffer. His most favorite job and pastime, however, was being “Papa” to his grandkids. They were the apples of his eye!

Scott is survived by his wife, Lisa of New Market; son, Jacob (Jennifer) of Montgomery; grandchildren, Micah, Liam, & Nora; father, George Rhein of New Market; brothers, Martin (Marcia) of Burnsville, Michael (Annette) of Savage, Joel (Debbie) of Andover, and Randall (Connie) of Lakeville. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gretchen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market at 11:00 AM with Father Michael Rudolf officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday at Bruzek Funeral Home from 4-8 PM and at church 1 hour prior to Mass. The Knights of Columbus will lead a rosary at 7 PM Tuesday night. Burial will occur in St. Nicholas Cemetery followed by lunch in the church hall.

All the Miner family send our deepest sympathies and prayers. Scott and the Rhein family have been a huge part of our lives as we grew up. It was nothing but fun and pure joy spending endless hours together. Scott helped lead the activities of every get together. All our love to Scott and each of you for your loss. Our hearts and prayers are overflowing, but fully trust he is happy and at peace .
