Richard Chodek
Richard Chodek, age 84, formerly of New Prague/Bloomington, died peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of the Minneapolis Business College. He worked as Process Engineer at Ford Motor Assembly Plant in St. Paul for 38 years. Richard and Lillian enjoyed early retirement, traveling, and time spent with family. He was very active in St. Patrick Catholic Church of Cedar Lake (rural Jordan). He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Bloomington and the Knights of Columbus.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian. He is survived by his children, Rick, Dianne (Bryan) Erickson, Greg (Dianne); grandchildren, Ricky (Coree) Chodek, Kristen (Matt) Jesse, Sam (Ashley) Erickson, Cale Erickson, Ray (Kristin) Erickson, Jake Erickson (Alissa Faken), Grant, Cole, & Ashley Chodek; great-grandchildren, Rylee Erickson and Liam Erickson; twin sister, Rita (John) Stasney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick (24425 Old Highway 13 Blvd, Jordan). Visitation will take place Friday, January 22nd from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Visitation also on Saturday from 10 – 11 AM at church. Lunch will follow Mass in the St. Patrick Fellowship Hall. Burial with military honors will occur at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery at 1:30 PM on Saturday. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Minneapolis Veterans Home who took such loving care of Richard.
