Nathan Kartak

June 10, 1991 - March 12, 2022

Nathan Kartak, age 30, of Montgomery, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his home. Nathan was born on June 10, 1991 to Christopher Kartak and Katherine Sloan at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, MN. He grew up and attended school in Moose Lake, MN and entered the US Army at age 18 and served a tour in Iraq. Most recently Nathan worked at Seneca in Montgomery but intended to get back into carpentry, which was his chosen occupation.

Nathan was a man of contradictions: goofy and fun-loving but serious and sensitive, sweet but also annoying. He loved to be with people but also found comfort in solitude. His natural charisma and charm, made him a magnet in making friends; he made them easily and loved them completely. His cousins were among his best friends.

Nathan was a risk-taker, enjoying anything that came with an adrenaline rush! He would be the one to jump off a roof into a pile of leaves or hay! He loved the outdoors and found a sport to accommodate any season of the year; his favorites were kayaking, fishing & camping and snowboarding. His ready smile, his outgoing personality, and his readiness for fun will be sorely missed by his family, his cousins, and his many friends.

Nathan is survived by his mother and step-dad, Katherine Sloan & Chad Rippentrop of Montgomery; brother, Sloan Benoit of Montgomery; sundry aunts & uncles & cousins.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Life Church LSC (206 1st St. N, Montgomery, MN) on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Doug Pint officiating. Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by the New Prague Area Veterans Honor Guard in New Prague.
