Myles F. “Milo” Jelinek

June 2, 1913 – August 14, 2013

Myles F. “Milo” Jelinek, age 100, formerly of New Prague, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in Oak Ridge, TN, where he had resided for the last 5 years.  Milo was born June 2, 1913 in New Prague, to Frank J. & Albina (Shima) Jelinek.  He was a lifelong resident of New Prague, attending St. Wenceslaus School and graduating from New Prague High School in 1931.  He married Elsie A. Cecka on July 25, 1936 in Lonsdale, MN.  Milo worked his entire life for International Multifoods, starting as a sweeper/oiler and retiring as Plant Superintendent.  Milo was an active community member, having served on the NP School Board, Commissioner of the BSA St. Paul Area Council & former Cub Scout Cubmaster, Past-President and member of the NP Municipal Power Commission, Past President and NP Fireman for 35 years, Rotarian, Past-President of the NP Golf Club, St. Wenceslaus Parish Council (Trustee) & Financial Board (Treasurer), Knights of Columbus, & KD’s.  He loved golfing and fishing in his leisure.

Milo is survived by 6 grandchildren, Greg (& Tracy) Jelinek of Cleveland, OH, Cathy (& Paul) Swartz of Beckley, W.VA, Chris (& Carole) Jelinek of Chicago, IL, Ellen (& Rick) Selegue of Westerville, OH, Jennifer (& Jeff) Lawson of Kingston, TN, Michelle (& Steve) Stewart of Kingston, TN; daughters-in-law, Barbara Jelinek of Galena, OH, Kathi Jelinek of Oak Ridge, TN; 18 Great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Jelinek (2/3/2005); sons, Frank & Thomas Jelinek; sister, Lorraine Ludwig.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior to mass, also at church.  Father Kevin Clinton will officiate and the grandchildren will serve as casket bearers.  Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
