Milton R. Dvorak

August 28, 1939 - January 29, 2022
Milton R. Dvorak, age 82, of Prior Lake, formerly of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital Mankato. Milton was born on August 28, 1939 in New Prague to Anton J. and Lydia M. (Pavlicek) Dvorak, Jr. He graduated from New Prague High School and was drafted into the US Army, where he served in Germany. Following his military service, he entered Normandale Community College to further his education and completed his bachelor’s degree in business at Mankato State College. He went into business with his father at Highway Motors and remained there until that business closed and then worked for Tsumura Company in Shakopee until retiring in 2003.
He found love later in life and married Pamela S. Stephens on July 29, 1989 in Hibbing, MN. The couple made their home in New Prague where they raised their 5 children. He loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and his large gardens both before and after marriage were envied by all. His greatest “leisure” time activity was always centered around cars. That love began at an early age, when he started sketching and drew pictures of cars that would actually eventually be made. He was a collector of toy cars, particularly Hot Wheels, most of them still in their original packaging. His ‘68 Dodge Charger RT, that he custom ordered, was still in mint, original condition and he enjoyed going to antique and other car shows. He was an active participant with Midwest Mopar Car Club, engaging in those activities with his sons. Milton loved his animals, never sitting down without one of the cats finding a warm spot on his lap. Besides his beautiful family, his greatest love was his love of the Lord and Milton never missed a day without reading his Bible.
Milton is survived by his wife, Pamela of Prior Lake; children, Anton, Antonia Dvorak (Mark Maher), Andrew, Alexander, Auston all of Prior Lake; granddaughter, Melody Rose; sister, Anita Dvorak of New Prague. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Church (17741 Fairlawn Ave., Prior Lake, MN 55372) with Pastor Matt Clausen officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 PM, and on Friday morning 1 hour prior to service at church. Lunch will follow the service at church and burial will occur at Czech National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the New Prague Area Veterans Honor Guard.
I remember Milton’s quiet and kindly demeanor and his underground garage next to Snack Cafe. Though we did not converse that often I was aware of his car fascination and his love of family and animals. The Dvorak name was synonymous with Prague, Czech and with New Prague. All the Dvoraks were ‘salt of the earth’ and worked at many mercantile endeavors in and around the city. God Bless Milton’s kith and kin . . .
