Mary Proshek

February 10, 1934 - November 23, 2022
Mary L. Proshek, nee Mahowald, age 88, of New Prague, passed away peacefully in her home at Praha Village on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Mary was born and raised in New Prague. She married William (Bill) Proshek on May 5, 1956. Mary spent many years raising their 4 children, working around town in New Prague, as well as taking care of many family and friends. She loved her community and many friends at Praha Village. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cards, gardening and sporting events of all kinds.
Mary is survived by her children, Scott (Patty), Todd (Mary Kay), Tom (Sandy), and Ann (Steve) Brickman. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nathan (Kim), Morgan (Crystal), Paul (Tina), Katelyn (Tyler) Koonst, Bria & Madison Brickman; step-grandkids, Rob (Sarah) Svobodny, Alix Svobodny, Dani Johnson, and Melina (Matt) Hannula; great-grandchildren, Adam & Hailey Proshek, Ben & Will Proshek, Katie, Grant, and Cora Koonst; sister-in-law, Ginny Mahowald; brother-in-law, John Sexton.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Proshek on September 17, 2019; parents, Ray and “Ella” Mahowald; brothers, Dr. Lee (Patricia) Mahowald and Allen Mahowald; sisters, Rita (Dale) Swenson, Jane (Kelly) Kallal, and Margaret Sexton.
Due to the approaching storm, the funeral has been changed:
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Visitation will take place from 10 – 11 AM at church. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the New Prague Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

I enjoyed working with Mary, so very much, at Remes Drug, she was so full of life!
