Linda Warnemunde
June 7, 1950 - August 5, 2023
Linda Ann Warnemunde, age 73, of New Prague, died peacefully on Saturday August 5, 2023, at Mala Strana Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Prague, Minnesota.
Linda was born on June 7, 1950 in New Prague to Ralph C. and Mary Ann (Busch) Slavik. She attended St. Wenceslaus Parochial School and graduated from New Prague High School before attending Beautician school in the Twin Cities. Linda married Richard M. Warnemunde in New Prague on September 3, 1971. She worked as a hairdresser for many years, and also cooked at Button’s Pub & Grub, MaDo's Cafe, Mala Strana, and County Line Café in New Prague. Linda retired after working at Lake Region Mfg. in Chaska.
A lifelong resident of New Prague, Linda grew up with four brothers and four sisters, all remaining close and making homes in the New Prague area. Linda and her husband, Dick, had one son, Tom, who was the center of their world. Christmas was a favorite holiday, demonstrated by her collection of Santas. Linda loved to cook and collected over 500 cookbooks. She loved to read and watch programs on HGTV, the Food Network, and the Hallmark Channel. Her love of flower gardening showcased red roses, her favorite flower. “Mr. Beans”, her beloved fur baby, was a constant companion. She was beautifully sassy and her sincere smile drew all into her circle of friendship. She was active with good friends in the New Prague VFW Auxiliary. Linda’s life was enriched with many travels with family to such places as Hawaii, Branson, MO, Florida, Las Vegas, and Arizona.
Linda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom Warnemunde and Karlyn Doyle of St. Joseph; siblings, LaDonna & Don Simek of New Prague, Jim Slavik of New Prague, Kevin & Jeanette Slavik of New Prague, Janet & Gayle Boudreau of Farmington, John & Judy Slavik of Jordan, Mark & Deidra Slavik of New Prague, and Mary Slavik of New Prague; brothers-in-law, Bob & Colleen Warnemunde of Eagle Lake, MN and Dave & Deb Warnemunde of Faribault; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard on February 3, 2013; parents, Ralph Slavik & Mary Ann Slavik Svobodny; sister, Dorothy (Larry Ward); brothers-in-law, Thomas Lee Warnemunde (in childhood) and Larry Warnemunde.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, MN with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 AM Thursday at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, MN. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Mass will be live-streamed at npcatholic.org. Lunch will follow burial at the KC Hall.
Guests are encouraged to wear purple or blue, Linda’s favorite colors.
