James J. Wick

March 19, 1931 – August 17, 2013

James J. Wick, age 82, of New Prague, died suddenly Saturday, August 17, 2013 while on his morning walk.  Jim was born March 19, 1931 in Luxemburg Township, Stearns County, MN to Henry F. & Mamie (Spaetgens) Wick.  He grew up in Watkins, MN, graduating from Watkins High School.  Jim served in the US Army in the Korean War and after discharge, married Arlene M. Neu on June 7, 1955 in St. Nicholas, MN.  Jim was a deputy for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Dept. He enjoyed playing the concertina and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Arlene, children, David (& Jane) Wick and Diane (& Steve) Kehrli all of New Prague; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lorraine Neu of Cold Spring, and Betty (& Paul) Nelson of Atwater.  He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Wick at age 14; siblings, Ambrosita Weber, Donald Wick, Ralph Wick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Fr. Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will be held that morning at Bruzek Funeral Home from 9 – 11 AM.  Military rites will be conducted.  Burial will occur at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Lunch will follow mass at the KC Hall prior to burial.
