Henry Holec

Henry Holec, age 75, of New Hope, formerly of New Prague, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador Nursing Home in New Hope. Henry was born May 18, 1938 in New Prague to Henry R. & Lucille M. (Lambrecht) Holec. He graduated from New Prague High School and served in the US Navy Air Transport Squadron from 1959 – 1961. Henry “Sonny” was an active man who enjoyed fishing, playing cards, polka and Johnny Cash music, and many activities with family and friends. Living most of his life in Minnesota, Sonny also ventured and lived in the South (Tennessee followed by Mississippi) where he learned to enjoy a good catfish feed and lakefront living. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Knights of Columbus.
Henry “Sonny” is survived by his 4 children, Henry “Vic” (& Mary) Holec of Mendota Heights, Lucia Schmitz (& Craig Greenwald) of Shakopee, Harold (& Sheri) Holec of New Hope, Doreen (& Fred) Ciaramitaro of Leonard, MI; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Eric, Patrick, Douglas, Adam, Gavin, Juliana, Wayne, Bob, Sara; 2 great-grandchildren, Savanah & Judah; 6 siblings, Clayton Holec of Ashland, MS, JoAnn (& Harlen) Menk of Anoka, Don (& Marion) Holec of McKinney, TX, Ken (& Beth) Holec of Eden Prairie, Darlene Miller of Prior Lake, Sue Knase of Bloomington. He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lucille Esberg Cornetet and Edith “Kitty” Kimberlin Holec; brother, Joseph G. Holec.
Services for Henry “Sonny” will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father David Barrett officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 – 11:00 AM also at the Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted. Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague.
