Gail Giesen

	June 11, 1962 - October 27, 2023
Gail M. Giesen, age 61, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Gail was born on June 11, 1962 in New Prague to Gerald and Lidwina (Huss) Giesen. She graduated from New Prague High School and went on to accomplish a degree in Culinary Arts from St. Cloud Technical School. Gail loved her job as a cook with numerous restaurants, her favorites being Clemmer’s/Fishtale Bar & Grill and cooking for The Villages in Lonsdale.
Gail was a true “people person”! She loved her family and friends and was devoted to her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews. She was the designated driver at Millpond, always enthusiastically volunteering for the “out to eats” events that would be organized. Gail never missed the Farkle, Bingo, card games and potlucks that took place there. She enjoyed game shows and Food Network on TV and started watching Hallmark Christmas movies in July. Gail was an inspiration in her commitment to living life to the fullest. Despite the many health challenges throughout her life and with over 10 years on dialysis, she fought hard along with the support of the staff of St. Francis Regional Medical Center and her Millpond family to live a full and meaningful life. Her gregarious nature and positive personality will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Gail is survived by her siblings, Dennis (Kim) of Deer River, Debra Finn of Becker, Rick (Diane) of New Prague, Donna (Mark) Steinbach of Sauk Rapids, Lana (Ken) Varoga of Sauk Rapids, Shirley (Mike) Meyers of Duluth. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Diane; brother-in-law, Gary Finn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will take place at church from 9-10 AM. Burial will occur after Mass in the church cemetery with lunch following at the KC Hall.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
May God wrap loving arms around your siblings and May God give comfort for the tears and light for the way. I found out you passed away as I drove a friend to her eye appointment in Edina for a 9 AM-11 AM appointment. I will miss seeing your posts on Facebook, along with answering others.
