Emily Mary Dvoracek
May 12, 1926 – January 22, 2015
Emily (Emi) Mary Dvoracek, age 88, of Andover, formerly of New Prague, died January 22, 2015, at Presbyterian Homes – Farmstead. Emi was born on May 12, 1926 in New Prague to Frank W. and Emma (Tupy) Kubes. She graduated from New Prague High School and worked at Munsingwear in Montgomery for many years before becoming a cook at New Prague schools. She married Raymond J. Dvoracek on September 17, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague and remained a lifelong resident of New Prague. She was a member of numerous card clubs and the VFW Auxiliary. Emi was full of fun and had an infectious spirit shown in some of the activities that would fill her life such as the New Prague Czech Singers and the Martha Choir at St. Wenceslaus Church. Her cooking skills turned into a lifetime love of cooking and baking. Emi had a smile that would light up a room, an endless work ethic, and a love for children.
Emi is survived by her sons, Gene (& Nancy) Dvoracek of Anoka, Jerry Dvoracek of Des Plaines, IL; sisters, Genevieve Pauly of New Prague, Ceil (& Gene) Simon of Veseli; six grandchildren – Jennifer (& Dan) Flynn, Andrew (& Margo Bassett), Katie (& Nick) Piehl, Michael, Emily (& Trent) Birney, and Christine; eight, soon to be nine, great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Robert Simon, along with sisters-in-law, Doris Kubes and Irene Kubes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray on October 8, 1988; daughter Becky in 1951; parents; brothers, Leonard W., Frank T., Arthur A., and Dan Kubes.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague. Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home from 12:30 – 1:30 PM that afternoon. Burial will follow Mass at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Presbyterian Homes Foundation Optage Hospice.
