Eileen Simonette

May 22, 1938 – April 28, 2015

Eileen Simonette, age 76, of Chanhassen, died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, after a brief struggle with ALS.  Eileen was born on May 22, 1938, in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur  County, MN to Harley H. and Hildegard I.C. (Tietz) Meyer.  She grew up in the Heidelberg area and graduated from New Prague High School before attending Hamline University, where she received her degree as an RN in 1959.  In the year of her graduation, Eileen married Dale L. Simonette on October 5, 1959 at Friedens Lutheran Church  in Lanesburgh.  After marriage, the couple moved to Minnetonka, where they raised their family.  She worked at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park as an RN until her retirement.  During this time, Dale and Eileen also wintered in Rockport, TX.  Retirement brought them finally to Chanhassen.  Eileen was an avid reader, enjoyed theater, had a quick wit and sense of humor, and was an excellent cook and collector of recipe books.

 

Eileen is survived by her husband, Dale Simonette, of Chanhassen; children, Patricia Simonette of Dallas, TX, Paul (& Kelly) Simonette of Maple Lake, MN, John (& Patti) Simonette of Claremont, MN; brother, Henry “Hank” (& Marie) Meyer of New Prague; sisters, Sandra (& Thomas) Thomsen of New Prague, Sharon (& Gene) Avikainen of Shakopee, Deb (& Alan)  Bolanda of New Prague; 7 grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Harley & Hildegard (Tietz) Meyer.

Services will be held Friday, May 8, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesburgh with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  Burial will occur at the church cemetery and lunch will follow at the church social hall.
