Carole L. Krohmer

July 1, 1920 – August 22, 2013

Carole L. Krohmer, age 93 of New Prague, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Mala Strana Assisted Living Center in New Prague.  Born July 1, 1920 in Colfax, WI, Carole was the daughter of Clifford & Ruby (Owen) Harland.  She was raised in Colfax and attended elementary and high school there prior to moving to Rockford, IL., where she resided for 14 years.  On March 30, 1957 she married Francis Krohmer, the love of her life, and moved to New Prague.  Carole worked at Munsingwear in Montgomery for 21 years and was president of the textile union for 6 years, representing the union members in Washington, DC, working with Hubert H. Humphrey. In 1983 she began volunteering at the Peace Center Food Shelf in New Prague, volunteering 2 days a week; she accumulated 10,000 hours of service.  Carole was also an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, Queen of Peace Auxiliary, the FOE Eagles, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Carole is survived by her children, Gary (& Karen) Barclay of Prior Lake and Darlene Barclay of Shakopee; 10  grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons; son-in-law, Thomas F. Schoenecker of New Prague; sisters, June (& Dennis) Scheel of New Prague, Fern Aasen & Geneva (& Earl) Waite both of Menomonie, WI.  She was preceded in death by her husband & soul mate, Francis; daughter, Doreen Schoenecker; granddaughter, Cindy Schoenecker; sister, Florence Nieman; brothers, Eugene & Owen Harland.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Erick Thompson officiating.  Visitation will take place Tuesday from 5 – 7 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and at church on Wednesday morning 1 hour prior to service.  Burial will occur at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague with Gary Barclay, Aaron Barclay, Chad Barclay, Tom Schoenecker, Jr, Jarrod Schoenecker, & Jacob Hinderman serving as pallbearers.  Lunch will follow interment at the Church Social Hall.
