Anna Veneziano

February 8, 1924 - February 6, 2024

Anna Veneziano died very peacefully at home with her family at her side on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, just 2 days shy of her 100th birthday. Anna was born in New York City on February 8, 1924, to Salvatore and Rosa (Giachetti) Chini. She grew up in Manhattan and in her early years, worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. She married Joseph Broccia Veneziano on June 18, 1949. Anna was no stranger to tragedy and buried both of her sons at young ages. Perhaps these experiences helped shape her courageous spirit. When her daughters moved to Minnesota, she and Joe joined them. Anna was a woman of deep faith and possessive of quiet wisdom. She was private and warm, making people feel comfortable and welcome in her home but then quietly retiring to the kitchen, where she would prepare and share her fabulous meals. She maintained a positive attitude, with a glass always half full, and left her children with the missive to be strong! Her life revolved around her family and her ready smile, encouraging words, and hugs will be sorely missed.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Marie (Anthony) Cocozzello of Savage and Rose (Thomas) Scaramuzza of Belle Plaine; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on October 22, 2002; sons, Joseph (at age 23) and Salvatore (at age 3); parents; sisters, Florence Arico and Lillian Chini.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Joseph Gifford officiating. Visitation will take place at church from 9-10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

She was a wonderful woman and a true saint. I have nothing but wonderful memories of her growing up as a child on Long Island . She lived a good life and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
