Violet Anne Bachman
January 21, 1927 - February 27, 2019
Violet Anne Bachman, age 92, of New Prague, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on February 27, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague. Vi was born January 21, 1927 near Princeton, Minnesota to Frank & Agnes (Fradette) Betzler. She attended grade school at Swatara and high school in Hill City and Aitkin. She met her future husband, Herschel F. Bachman on her 19thbirthday at a dance in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They married on August 15, 1946 in Estherville, Iowa and began their life together in Minneapolis. A year later, they moved to Lake Minnetonka in 1947, the Fort Snelling area in 1954, and finally settled in New Prague in 1963, where they finished raising their six children.
Family was always Vi’s top priority and her greatest joy. She was a great 4-H mom while her children were growing up and continued to be the glue that held the family together as they married and blessed her with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vi exuded positivity, always seeing the best in everyone and everything. She epitomized patience and kindness. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and loved to paint figurines and play piano.
Vi is survived by her children, Janice (Randy) Bohnsack of Sauk Centre, Jerry (Renee) Bachman of Owatonna, James (Linda) Bachman of Brainerd, Lee Anne (Bill) Cronk of Alexandria, Linda (Kevin) Crawford of New Prague; daughter-in-law, Serene Bachman of New Prague; brother, Larry Betzler of Chula, CA; sister-in-law, Phoebe Rhuona of Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel on July 30, 1988; youngest son, Larry; parents; brother, Willard Betzler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 12:30 PM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. The eulogy will be delivered at 12:15 at church. Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home Saturday morning from 10 AM – 12 Noon. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the New Prague Golf Club.
