Sharron Lynn Gillingham

August 14, 1931 - July 15, 2020

Sharron Lynn Gillingham, of New Prague, MN died on July 15, 2020 at her home.  She was married to her love, the late Sterling Hart Gillingham for 63 years.

She was born in Rock Bridge, WI on August 14, 1931, daughter of the late Bernard and Bernice Johnson.  Sharron graduated from Richland Center High School in 1949.  She enjoyed helping her four children understand and appreciate that lives lived most fulfilled, are those lives based on inclusivity and respect for others.

Sharron is survived by her brother, Sheridan Johnson (Whitehall, WI) and his daughter, Mary (Michael) Kamish (Minneapolis), four children, Cary (Nancy) Gillingham, D.D.S., Watertown, WI, Mark (Beth) Gillingham, Ph.D, Las Vegas, NM, Todd (Kristen) Gillingham, J.D., Hudson, WI, and Ellen Gillingham, M.A., New Prague, MN; nine grandchildren, Ashley Gillingham, Colin (Ana) Gillingham, David Gillingham, Benjamin Gillingham, Jacob Gillingham, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Gerts, Danny O’Neill, Madalyn O’Neill, and Sophia O’Neill.  Her face lit up when she was visited by her great-grandchildren Hunter Schmitz and Kieran Gerts.  She was very proud of her children’s academic and professional achievements, and especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family thanks Sharron’s friends, Lunell Friedges, Sally Tupy, Gary Egan, and MN Hospice/Tammy Johnson, LNP and her team for their professionalism and care for Sharron allowing her to remain in her home.

A virtual celebration will be held online at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Prague, MN (to access, please visit Holy Trinity Lutheran Church's Facebook page or Youtube page).  The family asks that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
