Sam Salisbury

July 27, 1993 - January 2, 2025

Samuel Wesley Salisbury, 31, of Elko New Market, MN passed away unexpectedly on January 2nd, 2025.

Sam was born in St. Paul, MN on July 27th, 1993 to Joe and Karen Salisbury. He grew up with 6 siblings as the youngest child. After high school, Sam enlisted in the US Army as a Medic and was stationed in Hawaii before enlisting in the Minnesota National Guard. After the Army, he graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Upon graduating, he had a career in Logistics, which he enjoyed.

Sam was a loving husband to his wife, Callie, and father to his daughter, Madeley. During his free time, he could be found playing video games with friends across the country, building blocks and reading with Madeley, working on house projects and spending time with his family and friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents and niece Graciana. He is survived by his wife, Callie Rezac and daughter, Madeley Salisbury and parents, Joe and Karen (Olson), siblings: Marie (Darin) Splittstoesser, Diana (Greg) Reecy, Emily Nichols, Chad (Tracy) Salisbury, Lucas Salisbury, and Marguerite Salisbury (Tim). He was also survived by nieces and nephews: Zachariah, Isabella, Elise (Matt), Josiah, Elijah, Isaac, Olivia, Aubrielle, Noah, Cayleb, Cayden, Jeremiah, Natalie, Weston, Lyla, Lauralee, and Lynnea.

Sam’s contagious laugh, bright smile, humor, kindness and generosity will be remembered forever by his family and friends. We know he is looking down upon us while enjoying a tall cup of crackers and milk and maybe a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. We love you, Sam.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Goulson officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 9:30-11:30. Lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague. Burial will occur at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

I was lucky to have served with Sam or “Sal” in Hawaii. He was an incredible friend and Soldier who made even the dullest moments memorable. The world is at a loss without him and my heart goes out to his friends and family.

I worked with Sam at SGWS my desk wasn’t far from his office door he used to always stand on the other side of my divider and ask questions I always referred to him as Wilson from Tool time because all I could see was his eyes and part of his nose. We always had banter like a brother and sister would, he was like a baby brother to me and he would always say I treated him like he was family. He always was smiling, I loved messing with him about his chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaur’s and all… Read more »

I had the pleasure of working with Sam at SGWS in the Logistics department. I always remember seeing his Toy Story mug at the coffee machine, when I passed by ,waiting to cool off. I also remember the time he was on his motorcycle leaving for work, and he had forgotten his keys in his office after setting himself up on his GPS to go home. He had to go back into the office for his keys while in his motorcycle helmet and backpack since he don’t want to take all of it off. We always had times like these… Read more »

sam was the best uncle ever. i grew up an only child and spent a lot of time with sam and my aunt marg. sam always treated me like a little sister even though annoying at times it was comforting knowing i had someone like sam that cared about me. i got my sense of humor from him and my aunt marg and i credit that to why i am so funny (jk) but in all seriousness sam was incredibly kind, caring, and hilarious. there aren’t enough words to describe how much our family has lost because we have lost… Read more »

I worked with Sam (remotely) at SGWS. He was the nicest, kindest person – patient, respectful, kind. My thoughts and prayers go to the family. I pray that his wife, parents, and siblings can find peace in this trying time and that his baby daughter is left with lots of images of him to cherish and hold dear.

I met Sam when he started dating Callie at St. Thomas. Sam and Callie always had a rhythm that just made sense. I live in another state and every time I went to visit them and stayed over he’d make sure I got a coffee in the morning and something to eat. He’d chauffeur us around to make sure we made the most of the weekend. That was Sam. When I got married he went above and beyond to make it an amazing day from getting my husband a blanket when he was cold, driving my mom to the venue… Read more »
