Rosie Kabes

June 11, 1953 - January 17, 2025

Roselyn Esther “Rosie” Kabes, age 71, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN after a diagnosis of untreatable cancer. Rosie’s 99-year-old mother, Esther, was holding her hand as she took her last breath.

Rosie was born on June 11, 1953, in New Prague, to Roman and Esther (Wondra) Kabes, Sr. She grew up on her parents’ farm in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County, MN. Rosie graduated with the 1972 class of New Prague High School and went on to graduate from Ritters Beauty School in Faribault. Rosie worked successfully at Obe’s Salon of Beauty and Ron’s Hair Salon, both in St. Louis Park. The rest of her time she was engaged in having fun, travelling, and entertaining. Her lifelong enjoyments include flower gardening, crafts, decorating and loving her pets. Rosie loved board games and playing cards.

Rosie met David Kalinoski in 1978, and they made their home in Burnsville; their home also included Tasha, and later Samantha (Sammie), both poodles. Rosie then worked in an office in Chaska, when her position was eliminated due to restructuring. After her beloved David passed away on February 23, 2020, Rosie moved to a beautiful townhome and closer to friends in Lakeville.

Rosie was a wonderful, generous friend to many, full of FUN and laughter. She was a wonderful one-of-a-kind woman and will be missed by all who knew her.

Rosie is survived by her mother, Esther (Wondra) Kabes; brothers, George (Terry), Arnie (Arlene), Romie (Jennifer); much loved nieces and nephews. Rest in peace, dear Rosie.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with MaryCarol Wolf officiating. Visitation will occur for 2 hours prior to service, starting at 9:00, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Czech National Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom.

I met Rosie several years ago. She had a laugh that caught your attention immediately. Conversations with her were always positive. As the years past by, I lost touch with Rosie. When I heard about her passing I was shocked! RIP kind lady. Heaven has a great Angel and she is at her eternal home met by God and her Dad. God Bless Rodie and all her family.
