Mike Carlson

June 19, 1942 - March 10, 2021

Michael “Mike” Carlson, a resident of Highland Village, TX and a US Air Force veteran, passed away on March 10, 2021 at the age of 78.

Mike was born on June 19, 1942 in St. Paul, MN the son of Melvin and Elizabeth. Mike was raised in White Bear Lake, MN alongside his siblings Phil, Katie, Mary, and Mark and many other extended family members.

Mike attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN earning a degree in political science and later completing post-graduate coursework at the University of Minnesota. He was also a Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1965 – 1971 stationed in multiple locations including Morón Air Base in Southern Spain.

Mike married his wife of forty six years, Carol Kratochvil, on October 12, 1974 in New Prague, MN. Mike and Carol eventually settled in Highland Village, TX where they raised two children together, Greg and Richard.

Mike was admired as someone who took pleasure in the simple things in life: a good book, a cold beer, a bike ride around the neighborhood, and a periodic trip to the beach to name a few. His legacy will be one of sacrifice and devotion to his wife Carol. During his retirement years he selflessly supported and cared for her as she recovered from a brain injury, setting an example for others to follow.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth, his brother, Phil, and his second son, Richard. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his first son Greg and his wife Melissa and their children, Caroline and Travis; His brothers and sisters and their spouses and numerous special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service was held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, TX and a burial service will be held on July 2 at 11am at St. Wenceslaus cemetery in New Prague, MN.
