Michael Schumacher

June 12, 1996 - May 30, 2021

Michael J. Schumacher, age 24, of New Prague, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.  Michael was born on June 12, 1996 in New Prague to Timothy and Kim (Born) Schumacher.  He graduated from New Prague High School and went on to attain his Bachelor’s Degree from Bemidji State University.  He worked as a production supervisor at Super Radiator Coils in Chaska.  Michael married the love of his life, Melinda M. Cunningham just 2 weeks before his death on May 14th in Isanti, Minnesota.  He was a natural athlete, playing basketball, baseball, and football in high school.  He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling.  He was very strong in his faith and was a man of God, always putting others first.  He would always light up a room with his presence and his contagious smile.  Michael was an inspiration to all who met him and got to know him.  An upbeat and positive man, he was famous for his one-liners.

Our sincerest sympathy to Tim, Kim, Mitch and Gail, Melinda and all of Michael’s extended family and friends. Michael packed a lot of living in his 24 years and has left his footprint on many hearts and will be remembered by many. I knew him best from him growing up and visits with me at the dental office, and in visits with Tim also at the dental office. We wish you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Michael was one of my best friends while I was at SRC as well as my boss. He was easily one of the best personalities in the building as well as the funniest. I was devastated to hear of this loss. The Schumacher family will be in my prayers!
