Michael J. Schumacher, age 24, of New Prague, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Michael was born on June 12, 1996 in New Prague to Timothy and Kim (Born) Schumacher. He graduated from New Prague High School and went on to attain his Bachelor’s Degree from Bemidji State University. He worked as a production supervisor at Super Radiator Coils in Chaska. Michael married the love of his life, Melinda M. Cunningham just 2 weeks before his death on May 14th in Isanti, Minnesota. He was a natural athlete, playing basketball, baseball, and football in high school. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He was very strong in his faith and was a man of God, always putting others first. He would always light up a room with his presence and his contagious smile. Michael was an inspiration to all who met him and got to know him. An upbeat and positive man, he was famous for his one-liners.
Michael is survived by his wife, Melinda, of New Prague; parents, Tim & Kim Schumacher of New Prague; parents-in-law, Patrick Cunningham (Kimberly Peet) of Leader, MN & Brenda Kadus (Jeffrey Pietz) of Pillager, MN; twin brother, Mitchell Schumacher of Fargo, ND; sister, Gail (Isaac) Sauer of Sendai, Japan; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Morgan Cunningham of Bemidji, Travis & Sara Pietz of Pillager, MN, Tyler Pietz of Pillager, MN, Ashlyn Peet of Leader, MN; grandparents, Gary & Anna Born of Waseca; grandmother, Carol Schumacher of Sleepy Eye. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Schumacher.
Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, June 5, 2021, 11:00 AM at Friendship Church in Prior Lake with Pastors Gordon & Melissa Deuel officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and Saturday morning from 10 – 11 AM at church.
Our sincerest sympathy to Tim, Kim, Mitch and Gail, Melinda and all of Michael’s extended family and friends. Michael packed a lot of living in his 24 years and has left his footprint on many hearts and will be remembered by many. I knew him best from him growing up and visits with me at the dental office, and in visits with Tim also at the dental office. We wish you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Absolutely heartbroken! Such an inspiration, both professionally and personally! I’m am absolutely amazed I had the opportunity to meet Mike and get to know him over the last few weeks, may he fly with the angels up there! And continue kicking those cowboy boots around!!! Michael was one of my students at NPMS and was a delight to have in class! He was full of energy while at the same time a very respectful young man. My condolences and prayers to Mitchell and the entire Schumacher family. The loss of Michael is so heartbreaking.
Michael could light up the room with his smile. He will be Greatly missed. Blessed are those including myself who were able to be touched by Michael during his life. Praying for Peace for the entire family. I know he smiling in Heaven.

Michael was one of my best friends while I was at SRC as well as my boss. He was easily one of the best personalities in the building as well as the funniest. I was devastated to hear of this loss. The Schumacher family will be in my prayers!
