Michael Gleason
September 28, 1986 - October 22, 2024
Michael Kevin Gleason, 38, died by suicide on October 22, 2024, after a long and brave battle with depression, anxiety and alcoholism. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Michael was born on September 28, 1986, in St. Louis Park, to LuAnn Walker and Kevin Gleason. He graduated from New Prague High School in 2005 and went on to earn his degree from St. Cloud State University in 2009. Michael was incredibly smart and skilled with his hands, spending much of his career working in construction. From a young age, his love for the outdoors was apparent, and as an adult, he was most at peace when hunting waterfowl or fishing along the river.
He is survived by his mother LuAnn (Joel); father Kevin; his siblings RaeAnne (Andy) and Thomas; grandpa Jim (Margaret); aunts and uncles, Bob Walker; Faye Tovsen; Ann & Matt Hansen family; Merrisue & Mike Minar family; Patricia Walker; Jill Haiker family; Tamara Gleason & Dan Peterson family; Keith & Angie Gleason family and several extended family, step-family and many friends, all of whom loved him dearly. Michael was preceded in death by his grandma Dorothy Walker, step-grandma Mary Walker, and grandparents Carroll & Beverly Gleason.
Michael's family and friends will always remember his kind and helpful nature, deep love for animals and the outdoors, and his sense of humor, which brought joy to him and to those around him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church in St. Thomas, with a luncheon afterward at the KC Hall in New Prague.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Duck Cup Memorial Fund or Ducks Unlimited, in honor of Michael's love for the outdoors.

To my amazing nephew, our Mikey. He is in heaven, free of pain and wrapped in the loving arms of his Grandma D. So very hard to take, understand and believe. My Auntie heart is beyond broken, as are the hearts of many. Until we meet again, enjoy everything you love … especially fishing by the river, followed by a fish fry!, and the northern lights from above. I will love you forever and ever. ️

Michael was one of a kind! He is unique, irreplaceable, witty, hilarious, intelligent, and he had the absolute biggest heart! He cared about everyone, even when he had a difficult time expressing it. I got to know Michael in ways that most did not and I feel soo fortunate to have had that little time on this earth with him. There was soo much depth to his character and he was the best fisherman, “just ask him, and he would tell ya!” Lol! To the good times and to the many great memories and laughter with friends and family. We… Read more »

We hunted and fished all the time together and we’re a unstoppable team. I love ya mike and will see you again. I’m very sorry for the families loss, Mike was the most generous and caring person I knew.
My thoughts and prayers to a very thoughtful human being . He will be missed . God be with you . Peace
Sending my condolences to the family. Mike and I weren’t super tight, but I’ll always remember our shenanigans in Tech Ed and Phy Ed in middle school. I transferred to the public school from St. Wence midway through 7th grade. Mike was one of the first people I met, and he made that transition easier. I always enjoyed seeing him out and about in NP. He was always fun to talk with and I always got along with him. Rest easy. – Jim Callahan (NPHS Class of 05)
I’m in shock and disbelief that this has happened, my heart goes out to you, dear Lulu and your family. This is devastating but at least we know he’s in a much better place the way this world is going at least he’s where there is peace and love now God bless you and watch over you all.
