March 20, 1930 - April 30, 2018

Mahlon J. Pikal, age 88, of Montgomery, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born on March 20, 1930, in New Prague to James J. and Emma (Trcka) Pikal. Born and raised in the New Prague area, Mahlon attended Le Sueur County District School and graduated from New Prague High School. He married Rose L. Ziskovsky on September 18, 1951 in Veseli and Mahlon spent his life dedicated to his passion for farming. He was a member of the NFO and was very involved in AMPI and the local livestock association. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Twin lakes Sportsmen Club. In his early years, Mahlon enjoyed bowling. Throughout his life, he enjoyed old-time music, listening to KCHK and the Minnesota Twins, sometimes both at the same time! He loved fishing and the highlight of his year was the annual fishing trip to Alexandria with his sons and grandsons, a tradition that has continued for 23 years. The biggest priority in his life was spending time with his family and supporting his kids in every way possible; he was always the last one at the campfire.
