Katie Sullivan

October 1, 1981 - December 30, 2024

Katherine Elizabeth “Katie” Sullivan, age 43, of New Prague, died peacefully, after a fierce battle with cancer, with her family at her side, on Monday, December 30, 2024, at her home. Katie was born on October 1, 1981, in Northfield, to Michael and Jean (Murray) Moeller. Katie grew up in New Market and was a graduate of the class of 2000 from New Prague High School. She went on to attain her Bachelor of Arts from the Minnesota School of Business. Katie started dating Brad Sullivan after connecting at work and the two were married on June 2, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market. That would start her on her greatest and most successful career, mother to seven beautiful daughters. Katie home-schooled all her girls, and her many talents came into play, inspiring them with a love of music and the arts. Her joyful, patient spirit was the perfect quality for her task, and she passed that on to her children.

A woman of great faith, she was a member of the Catechetical Institute and participated in numerous Bible studies and prayer groups. A proud member of the Well-Read Mom Book Club, Katie loved to learn and reading was her favorite way of accomplishing that. Katie’s gifts also showed themselves in the kitchen with a love of baking and her daughters especially remember her wonderful breads, biscuits, and brownies. As one can imagine, the challenge of home-schooling children at various stages of age and development required many traits. Katie took that on with patience and persistence, yet humility and abundant grace. She was giving, always putting others first and as her cancer progressed, remained an integral part of her family, denying pain and putting them at her center. Her indomitable spirit, kindness, and patience has left a huge footprint and her legacy lives on her husband and daughters.

Katie is survived by her loving husband, Brad of New Prague; daughters, Emily, Claire, Marie, Delaney, Hazel, Grace, and Rose all of New Prague; parents, Jean & Mike Moeller of New Market; parents-in-law, Betty & Jerry Sullivan of Prior Lake; brothers, Pete (Amber) Moeller of St. Francis and Kevin (Jill) Moeller of Dundas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen, Father Nick VanDenBroeke, and Father Michael Rudolph officiating. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Visitation will be held at Bruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 PM and Thursday morning from 7:30-9:30. The rosary will be said at 7:00 Wednesday evening. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.

So many thoughts and prayers filled with love sent your way, Sullivan Family. This world lost a beautiful soul and heaven gained an angel among them. Heaven is the lucky one. Katie’s intelligence, kindness, love, honesty and dedication to motherhood also shined anywhere she was. Rest peacefully my dear friend.

“God hath not promised
Skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways
All our lives through;
God hath not promised
Sun without rain
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.

But God hath promised
Strength for the day,
Rest for the labor,
Light for the way,
Grace for the trials,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy,
Undying love.”

-Annie Johnson Flint

May God’s strength and peace rest on all of you who loved Katie, especially the Sullivan and Moeller families. My prayers are with you.
