Karen Hinderscheit

June 10, 1963 - March 14, 2025

Karen Ann Hinderscheit, age 61, of New Prague, died unexpectedly with her family at her side on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague ER. Karen was born on June 10, 1963, in New Prague, to Leonard and Rosemary (Tupy) Franek. She had humble beginnings being raised on a farm with her Mom, Dad, and two sisters, Donna and Debbie. Those lessons of humility were threaded throughout her life. She graduated from New Prague High School and went on to graduate from Ritter’s Beauty College in Faribault. A hardworking and dedicated employee, she always went above and beyond and worked as an assistant pricing manager for over 41 years at Cub Foods in Savage.

Karen’s greatest blessing were her three beautiful daughters, Cassie, Tiffany, and Megan. They are forever her pride, joy, and world. She was a devout single mom who made great sacrifices and wanted the absolute best for her girls. Family was her number one priority and she was a remarkable provider, her daughters’ “Wonder Woman”. She was a fierce deal-seeker. She had a hard life with many obstacles to overcome, yet she persevered and leaned on her mother, Rosie.

Karen was a faithful Christian, who found solace in praying to Mother Mary daily. She was a lifelong learner and delighted in trying new things. Karen loved family vacations, outings, and seeing the world. Being behind the camera and capturing memories was her favorite place. She looked forward to summer all year long. The simple pleasures of grilling, popsicles, peas straight from the garden, running water, the first hint of frogs croaking, singing birds, bountiful flowers – all these were highlights and filled her with joy. She appreciated good friends; cheesy jokes made her laugh! Being a child at heart, watching old cartoons, especially “The Flintstones”, were her favorite. She wished she could live in “Bedrock”. Karen rocked out to 70’s tunes to try and unwind.

Karen possessed a kindness that radiated from her eyes to the smile that always graced her face. Her approachable nature and gift of gab made coworkers and customers feel seen and heard. Friends or acquaintances who met her on the street or grocery store experienced the same, always friendly, pleasant, and positive. Karen’s magnificent spirit is missed tremendously and every precious moment spent together is cherished beyond measure. Karen is endlessly the love of our lives.

Karen is survived by her three daughters, Cassie, Tiffany, and Megan; sister, Donna (Brian) Eshleman; niece & nephew, Chelsea & Carson Zerr; godparents, Ted (deceased) & Lorraine Simon. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Debbie Franek Zerr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home that morning from 8:00 – 9:30. Burial will occur after Mass at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
