Judy Glisczinski

July 6, 1945 - September 5, 2023

Judith Ann “Judy” Glisczinski, age 78, of New Prague, formerly of St. Paul, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Judy was born on July 6, 1945 in New Prague to Bernard and Virginia (Brown) Glisczinski. She grew up in the Union Hill area, graduated from New Prague High School in 1963, and from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1966 as an RN. The majority of her career was spent at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, where she served as the Head Nurse in a coronary care unit and finally as the Head Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. She finally retired to New Prague, returning to her roots in 2015.

Judy was a woman of many interests. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States and further afield to China, Poland, England, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A notable trip took her to San Francisco in the Summer of Love 1967. The yearly trip to Hackensack with her family was a much anticipated favorite excursion. Judy was an excellent cook, enjoyed quilting and collecting art, and was an animal lover. Throughout her life, she was a voracious reader, enjoying all genres of literature but especially a good mystery.

Judy is survived by her brother, Tom (Cheryl) Glisczinski of Eden Prairie; sisters, Mary Jean Halloran of Belle Plaine & Beth (Dean) Kattari of Issaquah, WA; 11 nieces & nephews; 24 great-nieces & -nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, James Halloran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father Joseph Gifford officiating & Father Roger Hessian concelebrating. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Visitation will take place Sunday from 4-7 PM and Monday morning from 7:30-9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Lunch will follow Mass at the KC Hall and burial will occur at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lexington that afternoon.
