Jerry Anderson

March 17, 1962 - April 8, 2021

Gerald M. “Jerry” Anderson, age 59, of New Prague, died suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague.  Jerry was born on March 17, 1962 in St. Peter, MN to Michael and Dorothy (David) Anderson.  He graduated from Le Center High School and Mankato State University.  Jerry married the love of his life, Lori L. Osberg on June 21, 1986 in Spirit Lake, Iowa.  Jerry worked all his life as a district manager for Pizza Hut.  His athletic skills found him bowling in his earlier years and a valued member of Veseli baseball.  A natural and gregarious man, he made friends easily and enjoyed shaking dice and playing cards, especially at his cabin “up north”, where he could be found in his boat fishing.  Jerry was a loving father and enjoyed nothing more than time with his precious daughters.  His contagious smile made him a magnet to others and often called “Big Jer”, he was loved and will be missed by so many.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lori, of New Prague; daughters, Samantha Anderson of Shakopee and Amanda Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ; mother, Dorothy Anderson of Le Center; sister, Carrie (Jack) Hendrickson of Hawaii; brothers, Todd (Deedee) Anderson of Savage, Kent (Sherri) Anderson of Michigan, Chad (Tammy) Anderson of Le Center.  He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Anderson.

A private family Memorial Service of Sharing will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home.

I had the privelege of having Jerry as a Pizza Hut District Manager after transferring to the Twin Cities in the late 80’s. What stood out for me right from the start was Jerry’s interaction with the team. Once whatever business was completed Jerry was specifically there for, he always took the time to chat with all employee’s whether it was the dishwasher, cooks, drivers or servers. More importantly he thanked everyone each and every time he visited which is why we all loved working for Jerry. He truly cared about his team and made sure we the managers were… Read more »

I was Jerry’s HR person out of San Antonio Texas for our company for Pizza Hut. He was an excellent person to work with and no one was on top of his work more than he was! He was always very kind to me, had a lot of patience and when I needed something, he was right on it. I will truly miss you, Jerry. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you, even though I couldn’t meet you in person! Rest in peace Jerry!

Jerry and his family are like a second family to me. Being best friends with his daughter Samantha, I had the honor of spending holidays, concerts, and cabin trips with them. I’ll always remember how to get rid of my hiccups because of him. I will miss you Jerry. May you rest in piece at a cabin on the lake in sky.

There are very few people in this world that can have the impact on a person more than Jerry Anderson has had on me. Jerry was one of the first role models I had in my professional career. He was the gold standard of longevity and success so it was easy as a younger DM to pick his brain on things or call for advice he always had the time for me and others that had the fire to work hard and be great like he did. Jerry had a unique ability to connect with everyone that worked with him… Read more »

Lori and Family,

So sorry for your loss. Jerry was a great friend during our college aged years and beyond. He was a genuine, lovable, caring person. One of my all time favorites! Loved to have fun and had the greatest sense of humor- and a tremendous athlete. We lost touch the last few years but I thought of him often and fondly. So sad for you and your family.

Words are hard to find right now. I hired Jerry and worked with him for many years in Fairmont and in the Twin Cities areas. He could take his work very seriously, get great results, and still have fun with his people. We attended many meetings together and believe it or not, never got into any trouble. He was a great friend and great manager as well. I recently reconnected with him but unfortunately God cut our time short. My sincere sympathies to Lori, Samantha, and Amanda. Rest in Peace Jerry.

Such sad news. I worked with Jerry in Fairmont for a couple years and remember him as a great guy. Always upbeat and ready to take on any challenge. We need more guys like him in the world. I hadn’t seen Jerry in more than 30 years but we were like family at FPH. He’ll be missed by many. My sincerest condolences to Lori and the rest of his family.

People talk about “National Treasures”, well that’s what Big Jer was! Talented in so many ways, but still very humble. Will miss that smile for sure.

I worked with Jerry for 10 years at Pizza Hut. First he was my boss, and later we were peers. Jerry taught me the importance of having fun at work and also the importance of treating people as partners and not just employees. He also taught me about dedication and always reminded me that tough times never are forever. Needless to say we also developed a close friendship through these years as well. He always spoke so much about the love he had for his family whether we were on the phone, or out having one of “our talks” after… Read more »

Jerry was a giant of a man. He spoke with affection often of his girls and Lori. I worked with Jerry for close to 30 years and he was a close friend and a person that I could call at any time of day or night. Often we spoke “after hours”. Jerry was very loved and respected by those closest to him and will be missed. Jerry, I love you and may your memory be honored and respected. Until we meet again…

I am just one of many that would say Jerry was his best friend. That alone says so much about the way Jerry made everyone feel. I worked along side Jerry for many years. My heart is heavy thinking of Lori and the girls. He loved them so much. Jerry loved hard and played even harder. Nothing better than fun he always said. I will miss him dearly as a friend and confidant.
