Jan Horsley

November 13, 1984 - February 25, 2025
Beloved wife and mother, Janet “Jan” Horsley, age 40, of New Prague, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at home. Jan was born November 13, 1984, to Paul and Cheryl (Westholder) Hartman in Shakopee, where she grew up and attended Shakopee High School. She met Kris Horsley on Christian Mingle in November of 2012. Despite many technological snafus, both of them knew within a week of connecting that they were meant to be together. Kris told his mom the day after Thanksgiving as she was leaving to return to Montana that he was going to “marry this woman”. She knew the same! They met face-to-face for the very first time on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and were married on March 6, 2013! At this time, she was also blessed to become stepson Matthew's "Walk Mommy." In 2014, their family grew with the birth of their son, Paul (Paulie), one of God’s special earth angels born with Downs Syndrome and autism, who Jan loved deeply, embraced with her whole being, and was abundantly proud of. Together, Kris and Jan centered their family and lives on their faith in Jesus. Jan is remembered as a caring, loving and forgiving person. Jan loved her family above all else.
She is survived by husband, Kris; son, Paul; stepson, Matthew; parents, Paul and Cheryl Hartman; brothers and sister-in-law, Adam Hartman, David and Cassie Hartman, and Mark Hartman; mother-in-law, Paula Hunthausen; father-in-law, Alton Horsley; nephews and nieces; grandmothers, Mary Hartman and Mary Westholder.
Jan was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Urban Hartman and Bob Westholder.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 4:15 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with Pastor Kraig Dorney officiating. Visitation will take place before the service starting at 3:00. Burial will occur at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 30, 2025, from 4-6 PM at Corner Fringe Ministries (789 Northdale Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448).
