Irene Ceplecha

Irene B. Ceplecha, age 94, of New Prague, died peacefully at Mala Strana Assisted Living with her family at her side on Friday November 1, 2024. Irene was born on November 14, 1929, in New Prague to Emil and Bessie (Novak) Ziskovsky. Raised in Veseli on the family farm she attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic School.
A young man, Francis J. Ceplecha, caught her eye and the couple was married in Veseli on November 22, 1949. She was a farm housewife and raised their family while also working in housekeeping at Mala Strana Nursing Home in New Prague for over 20 years. Irene was a very humble woman, very accepting and appreciative in her relationships with her family and friends. She was active in the Most Holy Trinity Church Altar Society and the church choir for many years as she was raising their family. After being widowed at a fairly young age she took many bus trips and enjoyed the occasional trip to Las Vegas. She had a special attraction to the nickel slots at Mystic Lake and other area casinos.
Irene is survived by her children, Eileen Anderson of Northfield, Donna Ceplecha of Montgomery, Marvin F. “Spanny” (& Judy) Ceplecha of New Prague, Francis G. “Fritz” (& Josie) Ceplecha of New Prague, Michael (& Darla) Ceplecha, of Montgomery; siblings, Marion Solem of Faribault, Ronnie (& Donna) Ziskovsky of Eagan, Fritz “Scottie” (& Micki) Ziskovsky of Lonsdale; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Francis J. Ceplecha (on September 22, 1988), and brother George Ziskovsky.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli, with Father John Lapensky officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. Burial at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Veseli will follow Mass. Lunch following burial will be at the Lonsdale American Legion.
