Genevieve A. Pauly

July 23, 1924 - March 30, 2019

Genevieve A. Pauly, age 94, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabiltation Center.  Gen was born on July 23, 1924 in New Prague to Frank W. and Emma (Tupy) Kubes.  She grew up and attended school in the New Prague area and married Edwin J. Pauly on April 3, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.  Edwin died tragically at a young age, leaving Gen to raise their three daughters largely on her own.  That indomitable spirit carried throughout her life. While Gen’s children were young, she was a homemaker, creating a nurturing home.  Once the girls were in school and out of the home, she worked at Munsingwear and Tikalsky Egg Produce for a short time but the majority of her working years were spent as a housekeeper at the New Prague Golf Club, retiring well into her 70’s.  She loved to golf, was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking.  Her greatest joy came in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Gen is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim, Sr.) Weckman of Hutchinson, Sharon (Tim) Turek of Savage, Diane (John) Gooch of Shoreview; sister, Ceil (Gene) Simon of Veseli; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin on December 28, 1964; parents; brothers, Leonard, Frank, Arthur, and Dan Kubes; sister, Emily “Emi” Dvoracek.

Memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will take place at church 1 hour prior to Mass from 10 – 11 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
