Duane A. “Dewey” Tietz
September 29, 1962 - August 22, 2018
Duane A. “Dewey” Tietz, age 55, of Waterville, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Northfield Hospital. Duane was born on September 29, 1962 in New Prague to Daniel and Sharon (Simonette) Tietz. He graduated from New Prague High School and married Bobbie Jo Johnston on October 24, 1987 in Burnsville. The couple eventually settled in Northfield, where they raised their two children. Dewey started at Malt-O-Meal (now Post Consumer Brands) 26 years ago as a processing operator and was still a well-loved and dedicated employee. He loved fantasy football and was a huge Viking fan; he enjoyed the playful rivalry with his son and daughter-in-law, who are avid Packer fans. He and Bobbie recently moved to Waterville, where they found their dream home by the lake, which allowed Dewey to spend valued time fishing with his daughter and grilling. His dog, Toby, was always at his side and he was never happier than when his children and grandchildren were with him.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Tietz of Waterville; son, Tyler (Kayla) Tietz of Northfield; daughter, Jessica Tietz of Northfield; parents, Danny (Sharon) Tietz of New Prague; siblings, Denise (Bruce) Rynda of New Prague, Dave (Pam) Tietz of New Prague, Dennis (Heather) Tietz of New Prague, Debbie Cobb, of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Sophia, Emma, Lucas, & Hazel; parents-in-law, Bob (Maxine) Johnston of Waterville; brother-in-law, Marc (Tami) Johnston of Minong, WI. He is preceded in death by his infant twin, Dale.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church (28983 181st Ave., New Prague) with Pastor Henry Koch officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 4-7 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and 1 hour prior to service at church, beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday. There will be lunch following the service in the church social hall.

You are already missed by everyone at work. Thank you friend for always having us laugh about almost anything…you made many of our days brighter there. Weekends, days, nights, holidays…it was always better with you! Always had a hamburger bun when someone needed it. Veggies fresh when you raised your trophy garden. Rye bread(Frankes) Careway cheese(Edels) Sultz(Town and Countey) and nothing better than fresh made sauerkraut or horseradish.Go Vikings…Go Twins! With love to the family you adored and of course Toby! Deepest sympathy to all of you! We just lost the best draft pick at work❤❤
