Danny Tikalsky

April 2, 1959 - January 5, 2022

Daniel J. “Danny” Tikalsky, age 62, of New Prague, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Danny was born on April 2, 1959 in New Prague to Daniel J. and Helen (Bartyzal) Tikalsky. Danny grew up in New Prague, graduating from New Prague High School and then attending a Vocational Technical School for a short time. He worked for United Steel out of Montgomery and moved to North Carolina, where he managed a plant for United Steel. His roots brought him back to New Prague about 20 years ago and Danny realized a dream of using his talents by creating and owning Tikalsky Laser. He was a man of many talents both artistic and athletic. In addition to his laser business, he was a meticulous woodworker, creating objects of art with perfection. His love for the outdoors saw him hunting, fishing, and kayaking, never enjoying it more than when up at the Sirek cabin. He was an avid rugby player and a member of multiple rugby clubs. When he had spare time, a good game of poker was his card game of choice. But his greatest enjoyment came in the devotion he had toward his grandchildren, his nieces & nephews, and great-nieces and –nephews. Danny was the fun uncle, the devoted grandpa, and the one they flocked to for hugs and giggles.

Danny is survived by his son, Daniel (Mandy) Tikalsky of Mequon, WI; daughter, Nicole Huffman of North Carolina; grandchildren, Caroline, Roman, & Nora; mother, Helen Tikalsky of New Prague; siblings, Danette (Mark) Svobodny of Hollywood, MD, David (Joni) Tikalsky of New Prague, Doreen (Craig) Most of New Prague, Deb (Russ) Sirek of Lonsdale, Dennis (Julie) Tikalsky of Veseli, Douglas (Jamy) Tikalsky of Montgomery; many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his father in 2002.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 PM and Monday morning from 8-9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Masks are strongly encouraged. Lunch will be held at the Park Ballroom following Mass. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org

I’ve worked with Dan and his team for several years now. He’s always been such a joy to work with. I very much enjoyed conversation outside of business talk and Dan always had a smile. No matter what was happening he was so kind and easy to work with. RIP buddy.

I played rugby with Dan in Chatlotte. He was always in a great mood despite the long commute. His sense of humor was infectious and he always made me smile no matter the circumstance. I am lucky to have known him. RIP Tik

I am so saddened to hear about Dan. I worked with Dan at United Steel may years ago. Dan was always so great to work with and visit when at the North Carolina facility. I cherish a beautiful Christmas ornament of a snowflake that Dan laser carved out of wood and gave me many years ago. What a wonderful man. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Wow – so sorry to learn about Dan’s passing. We certainly were fortunate to have had Tik here in Charlotte and playing with us here on our Charlotte Rugby Club back in the 90’s before he relocated back home. Great guy – good friend and a decent player for us. Thoughts and prayers go out to Dan and his family. RIP….

I am so shocked to learn of this; as I am sure you are. Danny was such a wonderful man! He was so talented, creative and kind! My deepest sympathies go out to your entire family!! Mrs. Tikalsky I can not imagine your pain! We lost touch after you left the neighborhood but if there is ANYTHING I can do for you please let me know 952-758-2889. In the future when you are ready to talk to others more, there is a wonderful grief group through St. Wence. or I am available to listen.
