Bob Maxa
November 24, 1965 - December 17, 2020
Robert J. “Bob” Maxa, age 55, died peacefully with his family at his side, after a long and difficult struggle with multiple health problems on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Reflections – End of Life Care in Northfield. Bob was born on November 24, 1965 in New Prague to Jacob A. and Audree A. (Sullivan) Maxa. He attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School. He worked at Chart Industries and most recently as a custodian for the New Prague School District. Bob was a quiet, gentle soul with a unique sense of humor. In his younger years and before health issues took a toll, he enjoyed annual trips to Mexico with friends. His nieces and nephews enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports with him on television. His interest in sports found him touring baseball parks. He loved music, especially classical rock. His gentle heart and quiet nature will be sorely missed by his family and close friends.
Bob is survived by his siblings, Paul (Anne) Maxa of Richfield, Annie (Pete) Kartak of New Prague, June (Randy) Downing of Blaine, Kate (Bill) Tabor of Lakeville, Bill (Janell) Maxa of New Prague; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Masks and social distancing will be required in church and at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery where burial will occur immediately following Mass.

I was so sad to hear the news of my cousin Bob’s passing. The Koppi’s have very fond memories of good times with the Maxa’s- family reunions on the farm, rolling down the hill, camping on weekends at the farm etc. My heart felt condolences go out to the Maxa family. Soon when Rev 21: 3, 4 is fulfilled, we will have family reunions once again. Isaiah 33:24 tells us “no resident will say I am sick.” We all look forward to that time, when we will see are loved ones again in good health.
So heavy-hearted to hear this news, and am awash in all the memories of growing up next to this delightful family. Such amazing times, such amazing memories – truly some of the most treasured memories of my life. In listening to Pete talk at the funeral, it broke my heart to hear of all the medical issues Bob dealt with in his life, and the struggle those brought to him and to the family. I hope, in time, some of the innocent, carefree times of our youth growing up together may lessen or at least soften some of the pain… Read more »

Bob meant the world to me. There are no words to express how much I’ll miss him. Such a great friend, so caring, always there for me. Made me smile & laugh every time I saw him. Our trips to Mexico were epic & I will hold those memories close to my heart. I can’t believe he’s gone & I’m heartbroken. RIP Bob, I know you are now with your mom & dad, they meant so much to you. We will miss you here. To his family, I wish you healing & peace.
My deepest sympathies to all of you. It was hard to believe he had such health problems, he never complained about them. And, yes, he was truly a gentle man. He was so kind. Jerry and I along with 2 of our cousins were part of a group that travelled to Mexico one year. He truly did love it. He helped take care of our dog several times, always downplaying his kindness. Rest in peace, Bob, you will be missed by many.
My deepest sympathy’s to the Maxa family. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rest in peace Bob! This has brought so many memories of my childhood!! We grew up together! Sliding down the big hill, yelling across the street to play, “Jackie Kroterflip”, your dog, Mugs. Life is way to short! Give your mom and dad a hug from me, and when you see my mom and dad, give them a hug too!! They will be glad to see you!!!
