Angela Josephine Shimota

March 16, 1938 - September 16, 2024
In loving memory of Angela J. Shimota, who passed away September 16, 2024, at her home at Praha Village Assisted Living in New Prague, MN. She was surrounded by her husband of 68 years, Harold Shimota, and family by her side as her two-and-a-half-year struggle with stage 4 lung cancer came to an end. She is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus our Lord and Savior.
Born March 16, 1938, to Joseph J. & Lillian R. Schoenbauer (Kes) in Lanesburgh Township, Angie spent the majority of her life in New Prague. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Harold Shimota, and together they raised nine children. Angie held many roles over the years, homemaker extraordinaire, in-demand house cleaner, Amway Corp Independent Distributor/Sales Representative and Manufacturing Assembler at Minnesota Valley Engineering.
She was a devoted wife, as well as loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Known to be a kind-hearted friend and high performing employee, she approached each day and each challenge with a smile extending grace, kindness, compassion, and love to all.
Angie’s interests included gardening, cooking, baking (Kolacky was a favorite) canning, sewing, crocheting, knitting, Czech singing/dancing, playing the accordion, playing cards, bowling, and volunteering in her community. She was a staple at festivals, especially if they featured Czech singing and dancing. She also loved to laugh and enjoyed comedies like the “The Carol Burnett Show,” and “Everybody Loves Raymond.” An avid Minnesota Twins fan, she’ll be cheering them on in heaven.
Praha Village residents will remember Angie as an avid Bingo player and caller, who delivered their daily paper and held a mean needle as a “Mending Mama.”
Angie is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lillian Schoenbauer, brothers Edward and Richard Schoenbauer, sisters Lillian Tupy and Joyce Hinderscheid, son Robert J. Shimota, granddaughter Amy Lynn Shimota, and a great grandson Christian Prchal.
Angie is survived by her husband Harold Shimota, her children Harry (Connie) Shimota of Crossville, TN, Connie Pomranke of Mankato, MN, James (Marge) Shimota of Prior Lake, MN, Kenneth (Jill) Shimota of Hastings, MN, Kathy (Steve) Korum of New Prague, MN, Tom (Michelle) Shimota of Rosemount, MN, Ann (Jim) Walstrom of Minnetonka, MN, and Julie (Scott) Lindner of Woodbury, MN, 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, brothers Chuck (Katie) Schoenbauer of Jordan, MN and Mark Schoenbauer of Waseca, MN, Sisters-in-Law Dorothy Schoenbauer and Helen Schoenbauer of New Prague, MN, Brother-in-Law Leo Hinderscheid of Florida, and many loving and very special nieces and nephews.
Her children and family were the joy of her life, and she will be dearly missed by all of them.
