Lucille R. “Lucy” Snyder, age 87, of New Prague, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Mala Strana Assisted Living.  Lucille was born on February 16, 1930, in New Prague.  She was raised by her grandparents, Anna & Joseph Smisek, went to St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and attended New Prague High School.  Lucille married Leon J. Snyder on November 19, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.  She was first and foremost a homemaker, raising her children, sewing, baking, and gardening, the latter continuing as late as last year.  She also worked at Anthony’s Clothing Store, for many years as a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Lee Mahowald, and finally at M.V.E.  Lucille was an avid Twins fan, loved reading, and enjoyed auctions and antiques with her husband, refinishing and reupholstering many of the antiques that they found. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was the time spent with her grandchildren and the many hours she spent babysitting.

Lucille is survived by her children, Judy Lager of Boone, IA, Dave Snyder of New Prague, Dick Snyder of New Prague, Peg Solheid (& Rodney Busch) of New Prague, Sandy (& Tom) Eaton of New Prague; half-sisters, Deloris Gardner, Patty (& Dave) Birch; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon, on April 5, 2010; grandparents, Anna & Joseph Smisek; son-in-law, Don Lager.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 29, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home on Monday morning from 8:30 – 10:30 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
