Pauline (Lexa) O’Brien, age 89, of New Prague, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Pauline was born in New Prague on February 8, 1928 to Wencel  and Rose (Bisek) Lexa.  She graduated from NPHS in 1945 and married Raymond O’Brien on September 26, 1953 at St Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.  Pauline worked as a waitress at the Park Ballroom, where she met her husband, and at Star Café.  She also worked at Catholic Workman for 36 years as a secretary.  Pauline wrote a column in their monthly newspaper called This and That, then became the editor of the paper till her retirement.  She also published a cookbook for Catholic Workman.  After retirement, she compiled her articles in a book called … and then some.  She loved to write and draw but her greatest joy was raising her two children.

Pauline is survived by daughter, Mary O’Brien of New Prague; granddaughter, Jennifer (Brad) Flicek of Lonsdale; 2 great-grandchildren, Kailey and Blake Flicek; sister, Helen Wolf of New Prague; sister-in-law, Marge Lexa of New Prague; brother-in-law, Jerome (Cleo) O’Brien of Isle.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray on December 24, 2012; son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Linda; brother, Joe Lexa; step-granddaughter, Angie Budreau; brother-in-laws, Leo Wolf, Bob & Harry O’Brien; sister-in-law, Eileen Doyle & husband, Francis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Dave Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to Mass, starting at 9:00 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the Legion Clubroom.
