Arthur Henry Kohout, age 87, of New Prague, formerly of Lydia, died peacefully at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, April 6, 2017.  Arthur was born January 12, 1930, in Spring Lake Township, Scott County to Emil R. and Helena M. (Dubbe) Kohout.  He was raised in the Lydia area and attended district school in Lydia. He married Donna Mae Nichols in 1950 and she died sadly of leukemia less than 2 years later.  Arthur then served in the US Army from 1952-1954 and following his military service, he married Hazel L. Zaudtke on August 25, 1956 at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church.  The couple farmed near Lydia and Arthur also worked for Midland Glass for 30 years.  Arthur and Hazel moved off the farm and into New Prague in 2011.  He enjoyed playing cards but mostly because it allowed him his favorite pastime of visiting family and friends.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Hazel; children, Faye (Todd) Ahlbrecht, Herb (Brenda) Kohout, Linda (Ron) Schmid, Nancy (John) Buschel, Sally (Lane) Wegener, Charlie Kohout, Ken Kohout & Lynn, Steve Kohout & Patty; siblings, Irene Jasmer, Harry Kohout, Ellen Hennen, Roman (Barbara) Kohout, Betty (Norb) Hennen, Bessie Janousek; sister-in-law, Elaine Kohout; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Nichols Kohout; parents; son, Peter Kohout; brother, Donald Kohout; sister, Ruth Kohout.

Services will be held Monday, April 10, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church in Prior Lake with Reverend Brent L. Parrish officiating.  Visitation will take place Sunday from 3 – 6 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and on Monday 1 hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will occur at Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery followed by lunch in the church hall.
