Esther Tietz Bruzek Jensen, 93, of New Prague, died  peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Born April 12, 1923, in Derrynane Township, Esther was the daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina (Schroeder) Tietz.  She was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she also attended 6 years of parochial school and then 2 years of public school.  Esther was united in marriage to Ludwig Bruzek on June 26, 1944, at Fort Carson Army Chapel in Colorado Springs, CO, where they resided for 2 years.  After returning to New Prague, she was employed by Eckles Telephone Co. for 29 years and also Sears.  After Ludwig’s death in 1973, Esther married Arnold Jensen on July 9, 1977, at Friedens Lutheran Church.

Esther sang in her church choir and taught Sunday school and religion classes for 41 years.  She also enjoyed gardening, traveling throughout the United States and Canada and writing about her life and family history.

Esther is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Curtis (Peggy) Bruzek of Thief River Falls, MN, and Michael Bruzek (Myrna Lau) of Lancaster, CA; grandchildren Carl Bruzek, Thief River Falls, MN, Aaron (Shannon) Bruzek, Panama City, FL, JoAnn (Conrad) Holten, Thief River Falls, MN; and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Sydney and Camdyn Bruzek and Senna and Ellie Holten.  She was preceded in death by husbands Ludwig on November 14, 1973; Arnold on July 4, 1990; her parents; four brothers, Adolph, Reinhold, Ewald and Erhardt Tietz; two sisters, Caroline Bohnsack and Hilda Meyer; and a daughter-in-law, Catherine Bruzek.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Henry Koch officiating.  Visitation will take place at church one hour prior to service.  Burial will occur in the church cemetery followed by lunch in the church hall.  Serving as pallbearers will be­­­­­­ Danny Tietz, Tom Thomsen, Henry Meyer, Izak Jirik, David Tietz, and Kenny Tietz.
