Armella Harris, age 89, of New Prague, died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague.  Armella was born April 20, 1927, in Morristown, Minnesota to Francis and Mary Cecilia (Braun) Zoch.  She was raised in Mapleton, MN,  and graduated from Mapleton High School.   She married Richard C. Harris in Mapleton on September 6, 1947, and she and her husband welcomed and raised 8 children.  Armella was a Cub Scout Den Mother when her sons were young; she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Therese Ladies Guild, and the curling club.   For 15 years, Armella and Richard wintered in Arizona.  Summers were spent at their cabin on Leech Lake, where many happy hours were spent fishing.  Armella was a huge crafter, shown by her talents in sewing, needlework, quilting, and painting. Playing cards rounded out her leisure activities.

Armella is survived by her husband, Richard of Belle Plaine; children, Carol (Roy) Zelenka of New Prague, Mary (William) Schadewald of Minneapolis, Thomas (Joyce) Harris of North Mankato, Michael (Jackie) Harris of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeffery (Sylvia) Harris of Cottage Grove, Theresa (Randy) Fischer of Gibbon, Patricia (Kent) Faulkner of Sandstone; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard C. "Ricky" Harris, Jr.; brother, Bud Zoch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 11:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mapleton, MN, with Father Peter Klein officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to Mass at church from 9 - 11 AM.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mapleton.  Memorial are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association.
