Alvin Chromy, age 98, of New Prague, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Traditions of Montgomery.  Alvin was born July 30, 1918, in New Prague to Frank and Mary (Kocina) Chromy.  He attended country district school and graduated from New Prague High School.  Alvin married Helen D. Kanten on December 19, 1964, in Milan, Minnesota.  He farmed his entire life on the home farm in Lanesburgh Township.  He crop farmed, raised beef cattle, and also raised hundreds of laying hens.  He took cases of eggs to Dvorak's Grocery store to sell.  Alvin was a tinkerer, building things that would help around the farm or enhance the beauty of his home.  He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and polka music and after retirement, traveling with his wife.

Alvin is survived by his daughters, Dorothy (Gordy) Hinderscheit of New Prague, and Susanna Cantos of Red Wing; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen on November 11, 2006; parents, Frank and Mary Chromy; siblings, Sylvia Dietz, Hortense Picha, Clara Ledin, Lillian Hanek, Frank Chromy, Helen Chromy, Grace Chromy, Elmer Chromy, Leonard Chromy.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Hans Lee officiating.  Visitation will take place Friday from 4-8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at church.  Burial will occur at Czech National Cemetery immediately after services and lunch will follow at the Church Social Hall.
