Dan M. Beckman, age 75, of New Prague, formerly of Ironwood, MI, died peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at his home in Millpond Apartments, New Prague.  Dan was born on August 18, 1941, in Ironwood, MI to Carl and Helen (Holst) Beckman.  He graduated from L.L. Wright High School in Ironwood and married Linda H. Koivisto on September 22, 1962, also in Ironwood.  The couple made their home in Ironwood, where they raised their son, Keith,  and daughter, Wendy, and finally moved to New Prague a year and a half ago to be closer to family. He served as foreman in the White Pine Copper Mines and also worked as a maintenance engineer for Aspirus Grand View Hospital and did carpentry for various businesses.  Dan’s first priority in life was time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly following their sporting events.    He came naturally to his interest in sports and being an avid sports fan, as he played football in his younger years and was offered to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals NFL team.  Dan particularly enjoyed walking with his wife.  He was an avid sportsman and reader, particularly thrillers.  Jig saw puzzles rounded out his leisure activities.

Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda, of New Prague; son, Keith (Annette) Beckman of Ironwood, MI; daughter, Wendy Beckman (Robert Helling) of St. Louis Park, MN; siblings, Wayne (Bunny) Beckman of Ironwood, MI, David (Barbara) Beckman of Ironwood, MI, Randy (Marge) Swanbeck of WY, Darlene Kirk of AZ, Gayle Swanbeck of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Nichole, Dominic, Austin, Zachary (& Tasha); the love of great-grandpa’s life, Easton Daniel and Yardley Bree.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen; brother, Jim Beckman; sisters, Joy Johnson and Cindy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
