Frances E. “Fran” Pexa, age 72, of Elko New Market, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  Fran was born June 30, 1944 in Minneapolis to Frank and Frederica (Bartelds) Von Bank.  She grew up in Lakeville, graduating from Lakeville High School before attending St. Cloud State University.  She married Dale F. Pexa, Sr. on October 17, 1964 in Lakeville and the couple moved to their farm east of New Market, where they raised their daughter and son and farmed for 22 years.  During that time, Fran also did bookkeeping and taught piano lessons for 36 years.  Music was a huge part of her life; in addition to the piano lessons, she enjoyed playing the trombone as well as the piano.  She was noted for her enjoyment of mowing the lawn and tending her beautiful flower gardens.  Tractors were another interest, having restored a couple of them.  A woman of many interests, fishing and traveling rounded them out.  Her greatest enjoyment, however, came in spending time with her grandchildren and her constant canine companion, Sparky.

Fran is survived by her daughter Franny Kvam (fiancé, Rodney Scheel) of Elko; son, Dale (Heidi) Pexa Jr. of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Nolan Pexa and Zachary, Darick, and Stevie Kvam; brother, John (Diane) Von Bank of Shakopee.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale on May 10, 2015; parents; grandson, Alex Kvam.
