Stanley "Spark" Maxa, age 84, of Elko New Market, died suddenly Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at his home.  Stanley was born December 31, 1931, in Jordan, MN to James A. and Otillia (Wermerskirchen) Maxa.   He served on the front lines in the US Army in Korea from 1951 to 1954.  After his marriage to Margaret A. Blaha on  September 11, 1954, the couple made their home in Elko New Market.  Stanley was self-employed as an iron and sheet-metal fabricator in business with his brother.  He belonged to the VFW and had a number of hobbies, including stock car racing and fishing.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Margaret of Elko New Market; children, Cindy Maxa (John McGirl) of Lilydale, MN, Leon (Debby) Maxa of Montgomery, Jeffrey (Becky) Maxa of Elko New Market; siblings, Josephine Davis of Minneapolis, Leon Maxa of Austin, TX, Raymond Maxa of Lakeville, Kenneth (Lois) Maxa of Lakeville; sister-in-law, Margaret Maxa of St. Paul; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James “Bud” Maxa, Harriet Warner, Robert Maxa, Cyril Maxa, Rosemary Juris, Donald Maxa.

Private family services will take place at a later date.  Burial will occur at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
