Louise Bartusek, age 88, of New Prague, died peacefully with family, on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Louise was born on December 11, 1927, in Cordova Township, Le Sueur County, MN to Theodore and Emily (Shampauer) Kewatt.  She grew up in the Kilkenny area  and graduated from Le Center High School. After graduation, Louise moved to New Prague, where she worked at the Star Cafe, receiving the nickname "Blondie", and met her future husband, Bill, who also worked there.  She also worked at the Hamburger Home in Jordan before marrying William J. Bartusek on June 2, 1947 at St Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.  Following marriage, together the couple farmed near Veseli.  When the KC Hall in New Prague was built, Louise assumed the job as head cook, which she held for 31 years.  She was a noted cook and probably holds the record for number of kolackies baked! She was an active member of the KC Auxiliary and the Veseli Altar Society.  She also enjoyed league bowling in both Lonsdale and New Prague.  Louise was a dedicated mother, which was reflected in her hobbies.  She was an avid gardener and loved dancing, singing, and listening to music, especially country and old time played by her sons.  She  crocheted doilies and table cloths; many were recipients of her embroidered dish towel sets.  She copied endless pages of sheet music for her son, Bill, and logged hundreds of hours chauffeuring her kids to Catholic School, music lessons, and band engagements.  After retirement, she spent her time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent hours doing word puzzles.

Louise is survived by her children, Bill Bartusek (Brenda Hobgood) of Owatonna, Patricia "Patty" Bartusek of New Prague, Karen Bartusek-Bierle (Dick Bierle) of New Prague, David Bartusek (Elaine Glusac) of Chicago; siblings, Betty Braun of Montgomery, Shirley Bluhm of Waterville, Joanie Bruns of Elysian, Charles (JoAnn) Kewatt of Columbia Heights, Donald Kewatt of Kilkenny, Jerry (LaVonne) Kewatt of Callahan, CO; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on March 30, 2000; her parents, Ted and Emily Kewatt; her step-mother, Helen; brothers, Orville, Henry, and Ted Kewatt; sisters, Alvera Schnoor, Phyllis Kewatt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 20, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli with Father Larry Johnson officiating and Father John Lapensky concelebrating.  Visitation will occur at Bruzek Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM and on Friday morning from 7:30 - 9:30 AM.  Burial will take place following Mass at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Veseli followed by lunch at the KC Hall in New Prague.
